No Need to Be Afraid of Cracks, Here's an Easy Way to Install Silica Board at Home
By PT JAYABRIX INDONESIA
Silica board is now a building material that is liked by many people. Because, silica board can be used for various purposes. Starting from the ceiling, insulation / room partitions, or exterior cladding of the house. However, we often feel anxious when installing silica board. This is because, even though silica board is a material that is quite strong, if you install it incorrectly it will cause cracks on the edges.
Well, actually there is an easy, practical, and safe way to install silica boards for house ceilings, room partitions, and exterior cladding. Here's how:
Use screws, not nails
Do not use nails to attach the silica board to the frame. This is because, apart from not being strong enough, installing silica boards with nails will potentially cause cracks on the edges. Moreover, hitting a nail with a hammer that is too strong can also damage the edge of the silica board.
Instead, use screws with sharp ends and flat heads to attach the silica board. Screws with sharp edges will make installing silica board more practical. Because, you no longer need to drill silica boards and frames, then insert bolts and nuts. Just use an electric drill screw with a sharp tip to penetrate the silica board and frame and glue the two together. In addition, screws can also be used for plank frames made of wood or metal.
Also, choose a screw with a flat head. Because this type of screw will not protrude from the surface of the silica board. So that the results of installing the silica board are tidier and the surface is flat.
Pay attention to the screw distance from the edge of the board
A simple thing that is often overlooked is the distance between the screw and the edge of the board. To install silica board, it is better if the screw distance from the edge of the board is about 1 cm. With this distance, the potential for cracks on the edge of the silica board can be minimized. In addition, the installation results also become stronger and stronger.
Want stronger installation results? Pay attention to the distance between the screws
In addition to the distance between the screws and the edge of the board, pay attention to the distance between the screws. Ideally, the installation of screws in silica boards is done with a distance of 20-30 cm between the screws. Not too close and not too far. If it's too tight, you will be more wasteful in using screws. The result is of course the installation of silica boards will not be efficient. Conversely, if the screws are too far apart, exceeding 30 cm, fewer screws will be used, but the result of installing the silica board will not be strong.
So, to make the installation of the silica board stronger and use the screws more efficient, install the screws with a distance of 20-30 cm between the screws.
Finishing with a cornice for neat and beautiful results
After the silica board is firmly attached. You can cover the screw by using a cornice. So that the existence of the screw can be covered and disguised. You can also use a cornice to close the gaps between the silica boards. So as to produce a flat surface, smooth, without visible partitions. To beautify the results, all you have to do is paint it according to your favorite color.
