Creating a Comfortable and Modern Workspace at Home for WFH
By PT JAYABRIX INDONESIA
The Covid-19 pandemic that hit this country has forced us to work from home several times. Unfortunately, we often feel less conducive when we have to work at home. This is because not many people have a private workspace at home. To stay productive, building a comfortable and modern workspace at home is the best choice.
It's true that we won't be working from home forever. However, we also never know when this pandemic will end. Likewise, we don't know when there will be a spike in active cases of Covid-19 which will force us to work from home again. However, there is research that says this pattern of working from home has the potential to survive even if the pandemic ends. Given the development of technology that allows someone to work from their respective homes.
For that, consider the following tips for making a workspace comfortable and contemporary at home:
Use Drywall As Room Partitions
Not many houses are built with work space facilities. When we want to have a comfortable workspace at home, we have to renovate a part of the house by dividing it into a room. Well, we suggest you use drywall as an insulator.
Drywall is a wall made of iron frame and special cement/silica board used for the interior of the house. In making workspaces for WFH, the use of drywall has several advantages over conventional walls with bricks and cement.
Drywall with silica board is faster to install than conventional walls. It only takes three materials to install drywall, namely silica board, iron / mild steel frame, and screws. The installation method is very easy. This is because the silica boards are left to be screwed on both sides of the iron frame. To make it neater, put a little coating at the meeting place between the silica boards. Yes, there is very little need for beautifying walls with silica boards. When compared to conventional walls, before the walls are plastered, they must be plastered first. The goal is to level the surface of the wall. Meanwhile, the silica board already has a flat and precise surface. So it does not need plaster and coating. If you want neater and more beautiful results, you can also use base cement plaster at the meeting between the boards.
In addition, drywall is also easy to dismantle if one day the workspace is no longer needed. Well, these advantages are not owned by conventional walls. Conventional walls with cement and bricks are practically permanent. Dismantling it requires a lot of effort and a lot of budget.
You don't need to worry about the silence of the room by using drywall. This is because installing silica boards in the right way can make a soundproof room on par with conventional walls. Silica board as the main material for drywall is also strong from impact. Some studies even say that drywall is safer than conventional walls when an earthquake hits.
But what needs to be considered is to make sure you choose silica board products from well-known and quality manufacturers. Jayabrix Silica Board is an example. It has various sizes to suit your needs, is dimensionally stable, water and fire resistant, and termite resistant. Surely your workspace feels comfortable using this silica board.
Determine your ideal workspace theme
In order to feel more comfortable and up to date, also determine your ideal workspace theme. One theme that might be suitable for a workspace at home, for example, is an industrial theme. The industrial theme is characterized by exposed cement walls. Well, you don't need to paint silica board on drywall to create an industrial theme workspace. It is enough to cover it thinly so that the color of the cement on the wall is well exposed.
For those of you who want a simple but comfortable workspace, you can try a modern minimalist theme. You can paint drywall a bright color. Then fill it with furniture that is simple and practical. You don't need a lot of decorations on the walls, let the impression of being plain and modern in your workspace.
Want a homey workspace atmosphere? You can use wood parquet to cover the floor. Also use wood-colored furniture. So that the atmosphere of your workspace seems moreh warm and homie.
Ensure Workspace Gets Natural Light
Also make sure your workspace gets natural light by providing several openings and windows. Besides you can save on electricity usage for lighting during the day, natural light also prevents your workspace from feeling damp. Remember, a damp room can trigger the appearance of mold in various corners.
Pay attention to the arrangement of furniture and work equipment
Place your desk and laptop/computer away from the window as a light source. Because it will make the laptop / computer screen biased by light. The best place for setting your desk and laptop / computer is sideways from the window. So that your keyboard is illuminated without biasing the screen. You will also be more comfortable working because you are not dazzled by sunlight.
Don't forget to think about air circulation
You certainly want a healthy workspace right? For that, make sure your workspace has good air circulation. Good air circulation will make your workspace feel cool even without the help of an AC (Air Conditioner). You will also feel more comfortable at work.
