The Use of Cement Mortar Can Be More Effective and Efficient In This Way
By PT JAYABRIX INDONESIA
Cement mortar is a perfect match for lightweight bricks. These two materials are currently increasingly favored by the public for building houses or even multi-storey buildings. In order to glue light bricks, it is no longer necessary to use sand. Enough with cement mortar mixed with water, lightweight brick structures can bond perfectly into a solid and durable wall.
However, you need to remember, the application of cement mortar as a light brick adhesive is different from the cement + sand mixture on red brick. Even though the actual application of cement mortar is much more practical and easy, there are several things that need to be considered so that it can work as effectively and efficiently as possible.
Pay attention to the composition of the cement mortar and water used
To make light brick adhesive dough, only two ingredients are needed, namely cement mortar and water. Well, the composition of these two ingredients must be right in order to create an efficient and effective dough to use. Usually, the rules for the composition between cement mortar and water are listed on the outer packaging.
For example BRIX MORTAR BM-100. On the outer packaging it says the required composition of water is 10-10.5 liters / 40 kg (sack). How to mix it is quite easy. First, pour 10-10.5 liters of water in a tub or large container. Second, add BRIX MORTAR BM-100 cement little by little while stirring evenly. Make sure the mixture is thoroughly mixed before applying it on the light bricks.
Wet the brick surface lightly before adding the cement mortar
One simple but often forgotten thing is to wet the surface of a light brick before applying the cement mortar. You don't need to wash it down with a lot of water, just moisten it with a brush. The goal is that the dust and dirt that sticks to the surface of the lightweight brick disappears.
Thus, when BRIX MORTAR BM-100 is applied, the adhesion can be perfect. So you don't need to give the adhesive mixture too thick which wastes materials.
Use Roskam according to its dimensions with light bricks
Want to be practical and efficient when applying cement mortar dough? You can use roskam to install it. We recommend a 6mm toothed rosette made of iron over wood because it tends to have more precise dimensions. Oh yeah, also pay attention to the thickness of the roskam teeth. Don't let it exceed 3 mm so you don't waste the dough.
This is because the BRIX MORTAR BM-100 dough can be applied with a thickness of just 3 mm. This applies to lightweight bricks with a thickness of 7.5 cm and 10 cm. Well, with a thickness of 3 mm, the light bricks are enough to stick perfectly. Also with this thickness, one sack of BRIX MORTAR BM-100 with a capacity of 40 kg, can be used for approximately 16 m2 of 7.5 cm lightweight bricks or 10m2 of 10 cm lightweight bricks. Very thrifty, right?
Stack lightweight bricks with precision
Lastly, make sure the lightweight bricks are stacked with precision. You can use tools such as a thread, a conventional spirit level or even a digital level level with a laser to ensure straight and precise wall work.
