Pockmarked Walls Make You Annoy? Fix It Yourself With This Practical Way
By PT JAYABRIX INDONESIA
There are many things that can make the walls in our homes pockmarked. Starting from the former installation of nails, to being hit by a hard object. As a result, the wall that was originally smooth and beautiful became hollow and pockmarked. Our house also looks less aesthetic because of it.
But don't worry, you don't have to call a builder to fix it. There are practical and easy ways that you can do independently. Equipment and materials needed was not much. And for sure it's easy to find in hardware stores.
Curious how to do it? Let's look at the following tips:
Clean the wall holes from dust and dirt
The first thing you have to do is clean the hole in the wall from dust and other debris. In addition, try to pay attention to the dry cement in the hole, is it still strong or is it brittle. Try scraping off the dry cement until a solid layer remains.
Because often pockmarks on the walls are also due to the cement plaster layer being brittle and falling off. This can happen because the cement plaster used is of poor quality. So you have to make sure there is no excess dry plaster that can easily fall out in the wall holes.
Make cement mortar dough as needed
Yes, the secret of this easy method is the use of cement mortar. This building material is a favorite for contractors because it is practical and easy to use but produces quality and durable plaster. But remember, in the market there are generally two types of cement mortar. For example, Brix Mortar BM 100 for light brick adhesives and Brix Mortar BM 200 for plaster walls. Choose a special cement mortar for wall plaster.
Making plaster dough is very easy. Cement mortar is simply mixed with water without the need to add more sand. The ratio used is 1: 4. So if you use 4 kg of cement mortar, you need 1 liter of water. Then stay stirred until well blended.
Make the cement mortar dough as needed. So you have to estimate the dough needs according to the size of the hole in the wall.
Cover the wall hole with cement mortar using a capi
After the dough is ready, you can use a tool such as a kapi to put the cement mortar mixture into the hole. Oh yes, before applying cement mortar, it's a good idea to wet the hole in the wall first. So that the dough can stick perfectly when applied.
Make sure you put the dough down to the deepest point of the hole in the wall. In addition, level the surface of the patch according to the wall surface. After making sure it's flat, let it sit until it's completely dry.
Sand the wall patch
For neater results, after the patch is completely dry you can sand it. Use fine sandpaper until the wall surface is even and smooth. No need to rush, sand carefully for maximum results.
Cover with plamir and repaint according to the color of the wall
After that, you can also re-patch the patched wall. After the plaster is dry, the last thing you have to do is paint according to the color of the wall. As a result, the walls of the house which were pockmarked before, are now smooth and beautiful again.
